Thinking about building a new dog house in your backyard?  This really  is a great weekend project, even for woodworking novices.  Maybe a simple dog house could be put together in an afternoon, with the help of a few cans of beer and the scrap lumber you have lying around.  Too easy for dog house plans, surely?

Your dog, its health and happiness are the starting points for the design of the structure.  You have to get the size just right – not too big or too small – and adequate weather protection is also a given. Dog House Plans

I have to let you know why getting your own set of dog house plans, and building it yourself is the best thing you will ever do for your dog. This past summer my store purchased dog house completely died on my poor dog. I’d just bought it less than a year ago and paid an arm and a leg for it. I was inside making breakfast the day after a large storm and was startled by my dog howling. I went out back to check and all looked alright except for the fact that she wouldn’t go close to her dog house. I walked over to check it and noticed that the roof was dripping at a rapid pace. Needless to say I was not impressed.

I do not consider 1 year to be an appropriate amount of time for a doghouse to last that costs a few hundred dollars. I knew I was out of luck when it came to a replacement or refund.
